Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL), of your library, requests, from other member-libraries of HIlL-net, books, articles, proceedings, conference announcements/papers and other material, which you have decided that you need, and they are not part of your library’s collections. According to most statutes of the member-libraries of HIlL-net, only users with valid membership enjoy the right to use ILL service, usually by filling in a request form, found either in their library’s information/circulation desk, or electronically in their library’s website.  The period of loan time is usually set by the Supplier library (the supplier library is, every time, the library that your library has requested the item from). The time needed for the delivery of the requested material also varies, because it depends on the Supplier library’ s geographical proximity to your library, the availability of the material, in the time of the ILL request, as well as on both libraries’ (client & supplier) ILL statutes.


At this first phase of HIlL-net operation only ILL staff of your library enjoys the right to place and audit your ILL requests via IRIS. An end library-user may enjoy ILL service, usually by filling in a request form, found either in their library’s information/circulation desk, or electronically in their library’s website.


There is no common ILL policy (e.g. type of material allowed for ILL, time of ILL period, courier and cost of material delivery, etc.) followed by member-libraries of HIlL-net, as there is no common library-material circulation policy (loans, returns, renewals, reservations, etc.). Every member-library of HEAL-Link, which may also be a member of HIlL-net has its own Loan and ILL statute, which primarily serve the needs of its institution members, but also permit cooperation with other institutions, in order to promote library-material circulation among all end users of HEAL-Link institutions.
