General Information

The creation of the bilingual polythematic Thesaurus of Scientific Terms, in the framework of the Horizontal Action for Hellenic Academic Libraries  that was funded by the 3rd 
C(ommunity) S(upport) F(ramework), has the following ambitious aims :

 •  to support the subject indexing of hellenic academic libraries’ collections,
 •  to facilitate the information seeking process, the localization of information and the information retrieval  within the Union Catalog as well as within the catalogs of the libraries-members of the Consortium, 
 •  to support a better level of subject organization of the information in libraries,
 •  to contribute to the development of digital libraries and thematic portals in Greece,
 • finally, to make known the hellenic intellectual production abroad, through the use of hellenic scientific work by foreign users.
